The Buffalo Hockey Experience and Museum Curates Buffalo Sabres 40th Anniversary Display 11.18.10

BUFFALO, NEW YORK – Joseph E. Gambacorta, DDS, founder of the Buffalo Hockey Experience + Museum, announced today that the organization has curated a special exhibit of Buffalo Sabres memorabilia to commemorate the team’s 40th anniversary. Currently on display at HSBC Arena, the artifacts are on loan from the museum’s permanent collection. Designed by Otherwisz Creative, “this 40th Anniversary display is our first large-scale exhibit dedicated to telling the story of the Buffalo Sabres,” stated Dr. Gambacorta. “From the Sabres’ inaugural year in 1970 to the Winter Classic in 2008, this presentation brings the major highlights in team history to life. Our collection gives hockey fans the opportunity to reconnect with Buffalo’s past and share all of those wonderful memories with their children and grandchildren,” added Dr. Gambacorta. “This retelling of the Sabres’ story is a major step forward for the BHE+M; it will give Western New Yorkers an idea of our dedication to preserving Buffalo’s hockey history with the scope and breadth of artifacts we have collected over the years.” This collection was curated with choice pieces from the BHE+M collection, such as a rare 1974 Tim Horton home jersey and items from the legendary Soviet Series game against the Russians in 1976.

The 40th Anniversary exhibit will remain on display throughout the 2010-11 Buffalo Sabres hockey season. The installation is located on the second floor mezzanine in HSBC Arena and can viewed during hockey games and HSBC arena events. BHE+M has conducted several other important hockey events in the city of Buffalo including an exhibit to celebrate New Era’s 1st Anniversary in downtown Buffalo and a city of Buffalo sponsored tribute to Buffalo Memorial Auditorium “Farewell Old Friend” at the Buffalo Convention Center.
